Key things to remember when interviewing at the post office

When you get to your interview one of the main focus points I recommend is letting them know that you are very serious about the job. They are looking for people who are going to appreciate the opportunity to work. I've talked with a woman who did all the hiring in a big city and she told me one of the main issues she has with her current employees is they take the job for granted, and their work ethic can sometimes reflect this. Just go in there and assure them that you are a serious worker, who shows up on time every time. You actually do not want to miss any work for any reason during your first few months anyways if you want to be retained.

Keep in mind that this can be a stressful job so they are going to want to know that you can handle it. There may be some questions that you weren't expecting, but don't let that overwhelm you. I always say you should be confident, but humble. This is a great job, but they do expect a lot from you.

People sometimes ask me what they should wear to the interview, the answer is look business casual, but you don't need to show up in a tuxedo lol. As many have mentioned you can get hired for this job in a t-shirt and some jeans, but are you going to stand out wearing that? Put yourself in a position to be hired.

Keys to getting hired

  • Do well on the test
  • Be professional
  • Be friendly
  • Let them know you're ambitious
  • Let them know you have a strong work ethic
